As common with most island villas, leftover of beer, booze, wine and more were plentiful upon our arrival, which is always nice while settling in. Great Cruz Bay is one of our favorite Bays to stay in and Villa Bijou definitely goes on our list for a repeat stay. What a cool feature to go along with the beautiful sunsets you get to enjoy from the patio. The full slide window in the kitchen/living room brings the outside in and the inside out. We had 3 couples so everyone had a full bedroom/bath in privacy and plenty of room to stretch out between the common area and the pool decks. We've stayed on island a handful of times and the villas are great here. We're having a hard time adjusting to being home! Highly recommend the villa, and Jackie was a pleasure to work with. It was fun hanging out with the wildlife, and watching sunsets from the pool after busy days filled with hiking, boating and snorkeling on the beautiful island of St John. The views are amazing, the kitchen is well stocked, and the location close to town is perfect. We had a fabulous time with our family of 5 adults. John again will plan to stay at the villa. We had great communication with property managers and they were super responsive to any question or requests. The 3 bedrooms are all amazing with super comfortable king beds. The Villa is on Great Cruz Bay and has an absolutely amazing view. Villa Bijou is everything that is in the listing and more. Communication with the property manager was more than I hoped with emails, phone calls and texts leading up to our arrival. The views were spectacular and the location was ideal for getting into town and to the North Shore beaches. The Villa was the perfect fit for our family with 2 college kids and one high schooler. Our family of 5 stayed at Villa Bijou over the Christmas holiday and enjoyed every day of our vacation. The gazebo is the perfect spot to watch the sunsets and sailboats during the day. Great Cruz Bay to St Thomas, the outer cays and feels like a little oasis. The dining gazebo/lookout has a ceiling fan and fabulous views from A wet bar is all ready for pool side snacks and libations and there is dining adjacent top the banana garden. Bijou Homes continues to be a prime choice for young Ghanaian professionals and expats seeking high quality affordable homes.Fabulous views into Great Cruz Bay and the Westin Beach (a short walk down the road),Īs well as to the outer cays, St Thomas and tropical sunsets abound. Many won exciting gifts from Hisense and house discount coupons from Bijou Homes.īijou Homes is located at Appolonia City in the suburb of Oyibi, Accra and can be purchased upfront, with an instalment payment plan, or through a mortgage provided by GHL Bank. Guests were entertained by renowned and upcoming comedic acts Clemento Suarez, Foster Romanus, General Ntatia and Doctor So of the Nyansapo Productions Group. The event saw home owners, prospective buyers, popular household media and comedy personalities and home furnishing partners grace the occasion. Choosing to live in a Bijou Home gives you all the convenience and comfort of a well-planned community.” “A secure and friendly environment are key components of our wellbeing – especially in a place we wish to call home. Osae-Addae added that Appolonia City’s well-planned infrastructure and amenities such as shops, schools, hospitals and recreational centres made Bijou Homes the perfect place to reside. The neighbourhood has an on-site management office, 24-hour security and an underground drainage system. Upon completion, Bijou will have 2,000 homes consisting of 1- and 2-bedroom expandable semi-detached homes and 2-bedroom terraced houses in a landscaped community. It is also ideal for those looking to purchase homes for investment purposes”, said Ama Osae-Addae, a manager of Bijou Homes. Our houses grow with you because they are expandable. “Bijou Homes is designed to meet the changing needs of resident and non-resident Ghanaians who may transition from living as individuals to starting a family. The world is starting to be overrun by demons, and while the Adventure books was split into six main installments, I was quite shocked at how lengthy this campaign was, and that’s not even including any of the optional DLC campaign additions. An adaptation of the “Wrath of the Righteous” adventure path, developer Owlcat Games has made a sequel to Kingmaker that vastly surpasses it in almost every way, not just in sheer scale, but content wise as well.Īs you embark on this massive adventure, you can expect virtually endless amount of gameplay depending on your attention span, understanding on basic D&D and how many times you’d want to replay to see all the different options at your disposal. Based on revised 3rd Edition Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, by Paizo Publishing, is very consistently ranking in second for sales when compared to D&D, which is no small feat. These generally are high fantasy, a setting I quite enjoy, and I never played it's prequel, Kingmaker, I was quite excited to check out Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, developed by Owlcat Games and published by META Publishing.Īs the Pathfinder brand was new to me, I had to do some research, coming away amazed with how in-depth the brand really is and what they’ve done since its inception back in 2009. While I’ve never been too heavily into cRPG’s (Computer Role Playing Game), they have quite a following and have had a number of massive hits over the past few decades games like Baldur’s Gate, Wasteland 3, Disco Elysium, Neverwinter Nights, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Pillars of Eternity, and Planescape Torment just to name a few. I wanted it to invite guests to actually enjoy our home.”Įlsewhere in the house, Warner and Shanahan introduced color via deftly deployed patterns: a botanical hand-painted mural incorporated into the primary bedroom’s custom headboard, a butterfly-adorned Peg Norriss wallpaper in the guest bathroom, bold stripes in a kid’s room, and panels featuring a black-and-white forest illustration in the dining room (found at Anthropologie).Īs effortless as the home now seems, the project was not without its challenges. “They evoke a sense of familiarity and are palatable for anyone with an art background or not.” Christina adds, “I knew I didn’t want my home to feel like a museum, which could be easy given the stature of the space and ceiling heights. “Some of our favorite pieces are the photos by Oakland-based artist Sadie Barnett,” she continues, referring to the portraits of the artist’s father that hang in the pink-walled dining room. Hers and Andre’s collection has grown to include pieces by pop artist Rello, Turner Prize–winner Chris Ofili, and British installation artist Isaac Julien. “Supporting Black artists is paramount for us,” Christina explains. “But the art adds so much vibrancy.” In fact, over the past several years the couple has been building up an extensive portfolio of contemporary art. “The architecture and design are quite muted and restrained,” Warner points out. However, above the white marble-lined fireplace, they added a burst of color in the form of an abstract painting by Nigerian American artist Odili Donald Odita, which provides a vivid sense of contrast to the otherwise light-toned space. For instance, in the formal living room-which boasts double-height ceilings and faces the pool-they chose furniture that would elicit a calm yet luxurious vibe: a made-to-measure speckled gray sofa from Egg Collective, cream bouclé wool armchairs from CB2, a modernist-inspired travertine table by Lawson-Fenning, and an oak lamp by Lostine. She met the airy architecture with a neutral palette of whites, grays, and natural textures, like stone and glossy dark-stained wood. “The house is very bright there’s a lot of light there,” Warner says. Indeed, the Iguodala home feels like the epitome of California living, complete with a sprawling backyard filled with native plants and views over the Redwood forests beyond. After graduating from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design in 2005, she relocated to Oakland and founded Redmond Aldrich, which has since become known for its atmospheric spaces that teem with old-world details and channel breezy California style. Warner, similarly, is also a Bay Area transplant. “Our son will be graduating in a few years, so the idea of relocating in the middle of high school didn’t feel right,” says Christina, who met her husband as high school classmates in their hometown of Springfield, Illinois. “She told me, ‘My husband is very tall,’” Shanahan recalls, “and after pausing for a moment, she added, ‘And all of his friends are very tall.’”ĭespite the peripatetic nature of the NBA-over the past 18 years, Andre has also played for Philadelphia, Denver, and Miami-when Christina contacted Redmond Aldrich (after finding out the firm had designed one of her favorite stores), it was because the family were finally ready to put down permanent roots. After briefing Warner’s team on the concept she had in mind for their 7,000-square-foot and five-bedroom house-she wanted an understated yet modern French-inspired aesthetic with lots of room to host family and friends-Christina mentioned, offhandedly, to Shanahan that the house would require a fair amount of custom-made furniture. “Christina is very low-key,” recounts founder Chloe Redmond Warner, who led the project alongside senior designer Taylor Shanahan. She omitted that her husband, Andre Iguodala, is a Golden State Warriors superstar. Sample price: £2.32 for 1 x 0.When a Bay Area family contacted Oakland-based Redmond Aldrich Design to devise their dream home, the wife, Christina, didn’t share much information.

I’m not sure if discussion sections stay the same, but those were the best math discussions I had.) On the other hand, I dreaded doing homework for 20A because it was a lot of algebra (finding limits was the worst) while I struggled in 20C because I had a hard time picturing what was perpendicular to what and tangent to what, the problems were wordy af, and in my defense, spring quarter was a bitch. When installed globally with npm (using the -g option), math.js is available as a command line application mathjs, see documentation on Command Line Interface. (Props to the TA’s too, the problems they covered during discussions were difficult af but they definitely got you understanding the material with more depth. I actually had a blast in 20B because I clicked with Lahiri’s lecturing style, and he really did a great job explaining those different tests and theorems towards the end that were giving everyone headaches. The professor definitely determines the difficulty of these courses. You get to catch his mistakes XD I found myself participating in lectures more often than not and it really helped with the contentĮdit: I took 20A-B-C, currently taking 20D. Lahiri is great!!! The first thing he told my class was that he sucked at math, and he definitely set a decent pace for lectures - you can easily follow him because he’s just as he claimed, “bad at computing” but in a good way. Most professors understand that you’re not a math major coming into this class. So, if you are looking to get to know him well, taking him more than once will definitely help!Ģ0B is not that difficult, it’s a lower division course with people coming from all kinds of backgrounds. Only downside is that his office hours are done one student at a time, so you will have to get there early or be prepared to wait in line.Įdit: Seeing your other post as a data science major, Quarfoot also teaches the MATH 181 series and MATH 183, which are statistics. He encourages student participation and has a few gaming analogies here an there (if that's your thing). Having taken Quarfoot for upper division math, I really enjoyed his teaching style (after all, he does math education research). As for exams, I don't believe that they will be exactly the same questions, but the difficulty is expected to be similar. To answer your question, according to CAPES, it appears that students who take Lahiri have slightly less homework/time spent per week on average. The only way to get better at math is to solve problems frequently. Not to be mean, but honest, if you are coming in with the mindset of learning integral calculus slowly and with little work, you are setting yourself up for failure in the long run. Integral calculus for most people tend to be more challenging than differential calculus. Going to supplemental instruction (SI) sessions, discussion sections, and office hours. Study with Quizlet and memorize flashcards containing terms like Fundamental Thrm of Calculus Pt. The difficulty of the class varies between students and how much time you are willing to put into the class.

As such, it is certainly worth watching, and if viewers are inspired to look a bit deeper into the work and lives of these two men, then maybe the film has done its job. It is a slight, entertaining film about two vitally important figures in American politics and culture. Best of Enemies is not an important film. Sometimes with documentaries, the importance of the subject matter can be mistaken for the importance of the film itself. The exception that proves the rule is Buckley's famed blow-up at Vidal in one of the last debates, after getting called a "crypto-Nazi." Gordon and Neville let us see more of this segment - as Buckley and Vidal's mutual hatred builds steadily - until finally, the whole thing reaches a violent climax that would reverberate throughout both men's lives for years afterwards. In a heavyweight bout, you want to hear some play-by-play, but you also want to see the fight. What's wrong with letting these conversations - the ostensible topic of the film - play out before us? I'm not suggesting the film should have gone the Point of Order route and eschewed all commentary, but the balance between these elements is slightly tipped the wrong way. But I'm skeptical of the decision to hack many of these debates into bite-size nuggets followed by a few quick soundbites explaining what happened. for modern documentary filmmakers, who want their films to be as entertaining as feature films. But I get irked by the decision to put the emphasis on tempo above content. Ugh.ĭon't get me wrong, these are great interview subjects with lots of fascinating things to say, including Buckley's equally opinionated brother Reid, the sharply analytical Christopher Hitchens, and the always affable Dick Cavett. Directors Robert Gordon ( Shakespeare Was a Big George Jones Fan) and Morgan Neville ( Twenty Feet from Stardom) often show heavily edited highlights of each debate and round up a bunch of talking heads to explain what basically happened. Both men considered the existence of the other one a harbinger of doom for the United States.Īs promised, the two competitors come at each other with a ferocity that makes for excellent television - and okay documentary filmmaking. Vidal, meanwhile, was an essayist and novelist whose new book at the time of the broadcasts, Myra Breckinridge (later made into a semi-notorious film maudit), was a sexually explicit satire with a transsexual heroine. Buckley founded the National Review, an influential conservative magazine, and he later became a pal and significant behind-the-scenes adviser of Ronald Reagan. Using the voice talents of Kelsey Grammer as Buckley and John Lithgow as Vidal, the film hopscotches between biographical vignettes about both of the combatants and chronological excerpts of the ten televised debates. Then ABC picked Gore Vidal as his debate opponent because he was a similarly outsized personality, fond of TV appearances and bitterly opposed to everything Buckley stood for. They picked Bill Buckley because he was already known as a feisty, outspoken conservative who was not shy about getting himself in front of a TV camera. The film states that no one at ABC thought this tactic would score them higher ratings than the other networks - it was just something to do. Grasping at straws, they decided to do recap coverage at the end of each night, including a debate between a liberal and a conservative. They could not afford to do start-to-finish coverage of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions like their more successful competition, NBC and CBS. The whole reason these debates came to be is that ABC News was dramatically low on money at the time. Of course, Buckley and Vidal are more articulate and funnier than the average party shill to pop in on Fox News or MSNBC, but today's mainstream rock music ain't like it was in '68 either. The documentary posits that today's proliferation of shouting heads on cable news can be traced back to this very moment in history. Buckley, Jr., televised in 1968, are Best of Enemies' main concern. What a strange, less cluttered - and quieter - time it must have been.Ī series of ten debates between posh lefty intellectual Gore Vidal and posh righty intellectual William F. If there is a major takeaway from the new documentary Best of Enemies, it is the revelation that there was a time before TV punditry.
